Your kidneys filter waste from blood continuously. Taking a break from heavy foods or alcohol can make you feel lighter or more energized.
What's actually happening: Commercial detox and cleanse products — juice cleanses, detox teas, supplement protocols — don't remove toxins your body can't already handle. Your liver and kidneys are doing that job all the time, without a special protocol. If they're not working well, a juice cleanse won't fix it; you need medical attention.
No juice or tea can accelerate those liver reactions. The pathways run at the speed your liver's enzymes allow, determined by your genetics and overall liver health — not by what you drink for three days.
The feeling of lightness or energy people report after a cleanse usually comes from eating less overall, reducing bloating, or cutting out foods they were eating too much of. You can get the same effect by simply eating more whole foods and less processed food — no special protocol required.
